Everyday life in the Middle ages followed a yearly routine of rural labors, many of which would be familiar to today's farmers. Spring meant planting and lambing; summer, haying and harvesting. In fall, orchards ripened and grapes were made into wine. Wintertime included hunts and indoor activities such as making and repairing tools and household items.
With a simple couplet for each month, accompanied by longer descriptive text, W. Nikola-Lisa tells of the life of the medieval farmer. Christopher Manson's watercolors stunningly illustrate manor life and its rural labors for today's young readers.
