You may not know your dinosaurs—a stegosaurus from a triceratops, for instance—but you will by the time you finish this story. Also you can't help but share the excitement and anticipation of the twins, Chris and Ken Rockhill, when they leave to spend a vacation hunting dinosaur bones in Utah with their old friend, Marty Taylor. The three youngsters have quite a time in the desert, following an old map and other interesting clues to bone deposits, and young readers will find their adventures instructive and suspenseful.
Like Mary Adrian's other nature mysteries, this story has a sound scientific background and furnishes a good deal of basic information on dinosaurs and dinosaur fossil discoveries, along with an engrossing story. The style is simple and colorful and is planned like the other Double H Keep Reading Books for the average third or fourth grade reader or for more leisurely readers of the upper grades.
