There was considerable interest when C.S. Lewis published his first children's book some five years ago. It was called The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe; and it was an instant success. Further books followed, and in this, his new story, he explains not only how all these well-known Narnian adventures began, but also a good many things about Narnia which have been rather mysterious until now.
The Magician's Nephew takes us back to the dawn of Narnian time and the day when Beasts first talked, which was also the day when people from our world first went in to Narnia. It all happened because Digory's wicked uncle, who was a magician, sent him into the Wood Between the Worlds.
The book is fully illustrated in line with reproductions of Pauline Baynes beautiful and distinctive drawings.
