It would be wrong to give away the secret of THE HAPPY DAY on the jacket, and it would be wrong to give it heavy words of description. We can only say that THE HAPPY DAY is as joyful as this:
— and that it is by the author of THE CARROT SEED, which the Chicago Sun called "one of the most satisfying picture books of the year," the N.Y. Herald Tribune "a little book with a big idea."
Otherwise THE HAPPY DAY will have to speak for itself, and that we are sure it will do, for its surprise—its happiness—is universal, and Miss Krauss and Mr. Simont have distilled it to crystal perfection.
Miss Krauss has also written many books for children, some of which are listed in the front of this book. As Junior Reviewers said, "Miss Krauss has a wonderful imagination, and she always manages to find a focal point which comes right out of the real life of a young child."
