Michel knows that a donkey would be a great help to his Grand'maman and himself. A donkey could carry loads of wood and garden produce—and even pull a little cart to take Grand'maman for a ride on Sunday.
But how was an eleven-year-old boy to get a donkey? Donkeys cost a great deal of money, and Michel could earn but little helping Hector in his cafe and working for Papa Alphonse on his farm.
Michel was short of money, but he had plenty of courage and determination—and he was not afraid to work. How he managed to provide a very special Christmas present for his Grand'maman makes a delightful story for boys and girls.
This is the third book written by Mrs. Seymour about Christmas round the world.
