The conservation of our national wild life is one of the great problems of the United States. Many of our most distinctive animals and birds are being cut down in numbers to the point where they may soon cease to exist. This book is the first of a series which has been started to draw attention to this fact and to show young people the important characteristics of the American Eagle, the Bighorn Sheep, the California Condor, the Buffalo and other species of wild life so they will be interested in their conservation when they, the boys and girls, are grown up and can do something about it.
The American Eagle, as portrayed here by a noted author and artist, makes a fascinating study. His story starts with his seeking a mate and their search for the proper site for a nest. No modern couple could be more particular! Then comes the construction of the bridal dwelling, a strange and wonderful affair, but not any more so than the future occupants when they hatch out.
Both author and artist seem to have put their heart and soul into this book which will stimulate with its facts and delight with its beautiful pictures. It is a truly worthy portrayal of our national bird.
