One day young Peter decides he wants to be a cowboy and ride a real pony. But his father tells him that cowboys have to work. So Peter runs errands, sweeps the porch and rakes leaves. With the money he earns he can buy part of his cowboy outfit. His father gives him the remainder.
But Texas Pete lives in a large city. Where in the city is he going to find a pony to ride?
The narrative of this simple story is set in large, legible type suited to beginning readers, with the vocabulary checked against the Rinsland Word List. Lovely drawings in full color help to disclose how Texas Pete finally realizes his wish.
