Book Guide
The causes of a war are many and complex, but I found a simple explanation written to children in the very times it was happening to help them understand what was going on. Time and distance often alter the telling of the tale, but this narrative will introduce your children to the thoughts of the day. The rest of the book draws on stories of the Belgian, French, American and British heroes who led and fought with the Allied forces. War is terrible. My intent was not to focus on the war, but rather to find the stories of courage and sacrifice that inspire us to face the difficulties of our own lives.
