Book Guide

There are children's nature stories where all the creatures act like people. Those imaginative stories have an important place in a child's life. I love the Thornton Burgess books and Beatrix Potter's Peter Rabbit and friends, but the stories in this volume are not like that. While they are still written in a way a child can understand, the stories are written about nature herself. I have come to love the Nature books from 100 years ago. They're informative but are always loaded with buried gems of wisdom and have an overriding reverence for the Creator. This volume contains stories from many different sources so you can sample the writings of several different nature writers. You'll find stories of rocks, sea-life, the stars, insects, plants and animals, and birds.
