Captured by Romans in the forests of Gaul, Madoc is sold as a slave to a Roman Centurion stationed in Judea. Though he is not a hard master, Madoc, being fiercely independent, makes plans to escape. There follow adventurous, suspenseful days. Then Madoc and his master meet followers of Jesus and come to believe in the new way of living he taught. As a result many unexpected things take place, and Madoc's life is changed completely and happily.
Slave Boy in Judea is a well-written, very readable story. Not only Madoc and his master but many other vastly different kinds of people are skillfully portrayed. The Judean background is accurately presented and the growing influence of the early Christian faith made very real.
