I organized some of my favorite and lesser-known poems from pre-1923 poetry collections around the Familiar, the Imaginative and the Historical that you'll recognize from the Well Educated Heart. The first section is a collection of poems about things little children are familiar with: child-life, family and home. Continuing with familiar things is a section organized around Nature—specifically, Stars, Ocean, Rocks, Plants, Animals, Birds, and Insects found in the Nature Series. Next you'll find poems to fire up the Imagination followed by a number of historical poems organized according to the rotating monthly schedule we use at Well Educated Heart. There are a goodly number of poems to enhance the study of American history. Many of them were written by eyewitnesses to the events. The final section of the book is for Life Lessons.
