In the middle of winter, it isn't easy for a white-footed mouse to find food, especially while trying to dodge foxes and owls who are just as hungry. Mousekin is being very careful, when, one day he comes across a creature he has never seen before—a snowman. With his red woolen cap, this new friend proves to be quite helpful to Mousekin in evading danger.
Where the snowman came from and how it got there is a mystery that leads to a wonderful surprise for all the woodland creatures. Edna Miller's writing, beautifully accented by her soft-hued watercolors, is both entertaining and informative.
