In JIM BRIDGER, American Frontiersman, the author-artist writes of the era when America was expanding westward, of scouts and explorers, of Plains Indians and their customs; of immigrants streaming from the East into a country almost unknown.
Among the immigrants was young Bridger who felt the call to join the throng of travelers. He found his new life to be just what he wanted and he never returned to his early Virginia home. Jim became one of the most famous mountain men of his time, trusted and beloved by all who knew him.
This book gives a splendid picture of the events, the successes and failures, the struggles that filled and shaped his long, useful life.
The author's illustrations, many of them full page and in color, give a sympathetic, lively interpretation of Jim's life, as often happens when text and drawing are done by the same person.
