This is the story of Edward Drinker Cope and Othniel Charles Marsh their great competition, and how they changed the world of dinosaur science forever.
In the 1840s, not very much was known about dinosaurs before their discoveries. Cope and Marsh became giants in this field of knowledge. They were the first ever to organize large-scale fossil-hunting expeditions. These expeditions resulted in techniques that are still used today for digging and protecting fossils. Cope and Marsh might have become good friends because of their love for dinosaurs.
Instead, the opposite happened. Though friends as young men, they became bitter rivals and their hatred of each other lasted their whole adult lives.
