Finding the constellations in our skies becomes a fascinating game with this new way of star recognition. First you see a constellation as a group of "just stars," the way they appear in the sky. Then on the same page you see the same stars connected by simply lines, and there emerges the figure suggested by the constellation's name: a bear, a lion, a pair of twins, and so on. These figures are so lively and simple that once seen they are not easily forgotten.
Magnificent "Sky-views" show the sky throughout the year, like views from a huge observatory window, with a striking 3-D effect. On these Sky-views you can pick out the constellations one by one and then go out and find them in the real sky.
There are Quizzes, Time Tables, a Sky Chart, chapters on the Solar System and Space Travel and, as an extra touch, two mischievous Gremlins who make observations of their own and give the reader many a chuckle.
Scientifically accurate text and illustrations are integrated to an extent that only an author-illustrator of H.A. Rey's competence could achieve. There is no end to the pleasure and information to be gleaned from this unique book.
