Here is one of Louisa May Alcott's most famous and beloved books, the story of a little orphan girl named Rose who went to live with her gentle, elderly great-aunts when her father died.
Life at the Aunt-hill, the nickname for the dwellings of her six aunts, seemed pretty dull to Rose and for a long time she fretted and pined for the happy home she remembered. When Rose's dear uncle, Dr. Alec, returned from Calcutta and saw what an unhappy creature she had become, he begged the aunts for a chance to bring up the girl under his direction.
Under Dr, Alec's wise and kindly guidance, Rose flowered into a lovable, happy girl who enjoyed many grand adventures with her seven lively boy cousins and her good friend, sweet Phebe Moore. And at the end of the year when Dr. Alec's experiment ended and Rose was free to choose her future home, she finally selected the person she had come to know and love best from all of the group of kind people who had befriended her.
Everyone who has read Little Women will enjoy this simple, heartwarming tale.

Rose Campbell Books
Reviewed by Sara Masarik
In a format that is similar to the Jo March books, Alcott wrote a pair of books about Rose Campbell and her seven male cousins. Eight Cousins is easily compared to Little Men and is at least equally charming. Shy and sickly Rose Campbell is an orphaned heiress. After the death of her parents, she moves to the “Aunt Hill” – a neighborhood of houses occupied by aunts, great aunts, and cousins while she waits for her guardian, Uncle Alec, to return from foreign travel. Because of a family estrangement, Rose barely knows her extended family, and her grief is compounded by the strangeness of her new situation and so many family members to know and try to please. Very quickly, however, Uncle Alec returns home to set things to rights and all is more than well.
