A continuation of the story featuring Adam Bradford. Adam has decided to leave the army, and is looking for work. He is offered the position of Marshall in the small town of Fairplay. There is an immediate need to handle relations between the sheep owners and the cattle owners who can't seem to get along or share the land. Using some quick thinking and a clever plan that he learned from Eugene Rhodes, he dissuades a mob from their intended course of action. This is a story that focuses on the cattle and sheep wars that occurred mostly in Texas after the end of the Civil War.
