Book Guide
Behold Your Queen! is a fascinating and colorful novel told against the background of ancient Persia. Its heroine is one of the Bible's most interesting characters—the lovely and lovable girl-queen, Esther, who comes glowingly to life under Gladys Malvern's pen.
Here is an inspiring story of love and courage, wherein Esther, Mordecai, Ahasuerus and Haman, whose destinies, strangely intertwined, create action-packed drama and exciting romance. The book is backed up by painstaking research, not only into the period, but into the story itself as it appears in the Bible as well as in other ancient works.
Against the magnificent background of the fabulous palace at Shushan unfolds a fast-moving tale of court intrigue, prejudice, danger, desperation and triumph. Through it all moves the spirited and daring young Esther—a heroine worthy of the high regard still bestowed upon her.
Beyond Your Queen! will appeal to young and old alike, for Esther was truly beautiful, truly great.

Behold Your Queen! is a fictionalized version of the book of Esther from the Bible. The novel is by Gladys Malvern, a popular writer of what we would now call “Young Adult fiction”. Back in the 1940’s and 50’s it was called teen fiction or just children’s fiction for older children. Many of her books are set in either Old Testament or New Testament times and are embellishments on familiar Bible stories.
