Several Christmases ago, while singing carols with her two young children, Jean Slaughter realized that if the carols were arranged in order they would tell a story—the same Christmas story as that told in the Bible.

From "O Little Town of Bethlehem," which sets the scene, to "Joy to the World," in which the news of Christ's birth is spread, the carols, with bridging material from the Gospel of St. Luke, tell the Nativity story.
