Abigail Adams was wife of the second United States president, John Adams, and mother of the sixth, John Quincy Adams. At age seventeen Abigail met the young lawyer John Adams. They began to correspond, and later they were married. Along with her husband, Abigail ardently supported the American Revolution. Never silent about her opinions, she also believed that a country fighting for independence should not have slaves, and that women should have the same rights as men.
