Paul Revere was born on January 1, 1735, in Boston, Massachusetts. One of nine children, he worked in his father's silversmith shop. At age 21, he fought in the French and Indian Wars. Afterwards he learned several trades besides silversmithing, married twice, and had sixteen children.
Paul Revere objected to paying taxes to England on tea and other items. He participated in the Boston Tea Party, boarding a British ship and helping to dump chests of tea into the water. On April 18, 1775, he went down in history for warning American soldiers in Lexington, Massachusetts, that the British were about to attack.
Paul Revere is remembered today as a great American patriot who helped his country win independence.
