Sydney Smith

SYDNEY SMITH was born in rural Nova Scotia and has been drawing from an early age. Since graduating from NSCAD University, he has illustrated the highly acclaimed wordless picture book Sidewalk Flowers, conceived by JonArno Lawson, Grant and Tillie Go Walking by Monica Kulling, Town Is By the Sea by Joanne Schwartz, and Small in the City, which Sydney both wrote and illustrated. He has received many awards, including the Governor General's Award in Young People's Literature, the Sheila Barry Picture Book Award and the Lillian Shepherd Memorial Award for Excellence in Illustration. He lives and works in Halifax, Nova Scotia, with his wife and two sons.
